Troubleshooting your Color Copier

TechnicianUnfortunately, things break down in your office all the time. If you’re not on the phone with tech support for a computer issue, you are at the copy machine ready to lose your patience as you are pushing hard to reach a deadline. We have a few things to consider when troubleshooting your color copier that will hopefully get you back on track and out of the frustration zone.

  • The Paper Jam– The most common but no less frustrating paper jam can send even mild mannered office workers into a rage when they happen at inopportune times (which is always when they occur!). All you need to do to clear a paper jam is to locate the paper jam and s-l-o-w-l-y pull the paper and ensuing bits out of the copier. That’s all there is too it. Crisis averted.
  • Cartridge or toner problems: Depending on whether you have a laser or inkjet printer, whenever you find yourself with uneven print, light or dark spots or fading on your printed paper, it’s a good idea to check the levels on your cartridge or toner. If the toner or cartridge is low, as frustrating as it is, it’s an easy fix and you’ll be back to work in no time.
  • Crinkled/ torn pages: This can sometimes be an indication of something more difficult to repair on your own. If you have investigated the copier for paper jams and haven’t had luck finding one, it might be time to call your local copier repair technician.
